A show combining intimate songwriting with grand sound
A mixture of hip-hop, spoken word and art-pop, with jazz inflections, aided by cello work. The performance is very relaxed, raw, and authentic.
Czech artist, cellist, singer and composer, Taliraw has been performing for years in Czech with her band. They successfully got through on the Czechoslovakian Voice...then started from scratch again when she moved to Newcastle.
Her New EP 'English Weather' marries a few different genres such as Ambient/Art-Pop, Lo-fi Hip-Hop, Pop/Synthy - which tells a story, sharing authentically what’s she’s been through and where she stands at this point in her life.
“Mixing in a range of styles from lo-fi, hip-hop, pop and ambient, she’s keen to tell her stories
as authentically and honestly as possible, drawing from her musical and cultural sources”
NARC - El Camino single review
“Reference points would probably include Kae Tempest and Tyneside’s own Martha Hill, but Taliraw is certainly ploughing her own furrow here.”
